Review: The Body Shop's Winter Trend: 4-Step Smokey Eyes Palette in Silver Black

Hi girls! :)

Christmas is just around the corner!

A lot of things change whenever Christmas is coming. Like the traffic, huge discounts, a lot of promos (and giveaways from blogs), fashion and even makeup!

This year, sporting Smokey eyes is what's-in in makeup!

And The Body Shop just launched their new Eye Shadow Palette for Winter 2011!

PARTY TIME
SMOKE AND SPARKLE
Winter 2011 is all about smokey eyes, glossy lips and sparkle!

Silver Black 4 Step Smokey Eyes Palette
The packaging is very sleek and classy
Box of the product
 The product says:

Create the perfect smokey eye with this kit. It includes a palette of four eye shadows in  shades of black and silver, a mini Eye Definer and mini Eyeshadow Brush.

Ingredients
Community Fair Trade marula oil

Our Community Fair Trade marula oil comes from the ripened fruit of the marula tree in Namibia. The fruits are hand-selected and the nuts are extracted and allowed to dry in the sun. The moisture-rich kernels are cold-pressed by hand to release the oil.

Values
Our Community Fair Trade marula oil is produced by the Eudafano Women’s Co-operative of Namibia, which is owned and run entirely by women. By setting up their own factory, the 5,000 members have gained entrepreneurial skills and, they say, a newfound self-esteem. To find out more, visit our Community Fair Trade section.

This palette is worth Php1,495.00 and is available in The Body Shop Branches.

I first tried this product during the Blogger Makeover Event of The Body Shop a couple of weeks ago. :)
So on to the review!

Here are the swatches!
on Paper

And on the skin:

Ice White
Marble Grey
Charcoal Black
Silver Highlighter
Each shadow weighs 2g or 0.07 OZ

Ice White and Marble Grey are both shimmery while the Charcoal Black Shadow is matte. The silver Highlighter is somewhat colorless. It just adds more sparkly/ glittery effect on your eyes!

The colors aren't as pigmented as the eye shadows I've been using. I have to apply a heavier amount to get the same effect. The Charcoal Black one is probably the most pigmented and most long lasting of all.

It's very important to use an eye shadow primer to get a better finish and for it to last longer. Without a primer, the shadows only last 3-4 hours without creasing on my oily eye lids. :P

I like that the eye shadows aren't chalky at all. I hate those kinds of shadows. They are so messy to work with!
The palette also has a Black Eye Liner Pencil

swatch on skin
Top: 1 stroke
Bottom: when smudged

The color of the pencil gets darker with every coating. It can go darker to a solid black.

It also comes with an applicator/ Eye Colour Brush which is surprisingly very soft! It's rare to find a palette with a very nice brush! :)

The box has a step-by-step instruction on how to apply the makeup.
And you only need to follow 4 steps:

Step 1
Base: Using the integrated brush, sweep Shade 01: Ice White Base over the entire eyelid and up to the brow bone.

Step 2
Smoke: Apply Shade 03: Charcoal Black Shadow over the entire eyelid and work into crease. Blend Shade 02: Marble Grey Shadow along the top and lower lash line.

Step 3
Highlight: Add a touch of Shade 04: Silver Highlighter to the brow bone and inner corners of the eyes.

Step 4
Define: Apply Eye Definer Shade 01: Black in the waterline.

So I followed the makeup instructions except I put some black liner first at the outer side of my eyes to pump up the black shadow for a more dramatic vibe. Plus, I defined my eyes by adding a thick black line using a gel liner near the top of my lashline and added wings! :P

 Here's what I looked like.

And here's a more closer look.

I finished up the makeup with a very sheer pale pink blush and a peachy pink gloss.

What do I like about it?

The packaging and over all presentation is very classy!
I like the selection of colors
It's a mirrored compact
Not chalky
comes with an eyeliner
comes with a good brush
available in all TBS branches

What I don't like about it:

Would have loved it more if it was more pigmented
A bit expensive for my budget

Would I buy it again? Probably not. It would be a while if I were to finish this palette since I don't use it quite often because I like interchanging my looks. I like trying out other palettes and I like those that are more pigmented (I love to experiment with colors and do creative makeup). But if you like safe makeup, then this is the palette for you.
BTW, they also have a Golden Brown version of the palette! :D
Here is a list of the entire collection with their prices. :)
